Ishan Kishan out of Duleep Trophy opener

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is set to miss the opening round of the Duleep Trophy due to injury. According to ESPNcricinfo, Kishan hasn’t fully recovered from an injury he suffered in the UK during his stint with Nottinghamshire. In place of him, Odisha's Aashirwad Swain, who has replaced Kishan in the East Zone's squad, will lead the side. East Zone will face Shubman Gill-led North Zone from August 28. Meanwhile, Ishan’s injury doesn't appear to be a serious one, and he will eye India A's tour of Australia next month. As per the report, Kishan will undergo his rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
The report also states that pacer Akash Deep has been advised to rest and will miss the Duleep Trophy. He played four of the five tests in the recently concluded series between England and India. Akash missed the fourth Test in Manchester due to a niggle but was in the squad for the fifth Test at The Oval.
