IND-W vs AUS-W, 1st ODI: Smriti Mandhana shatters records, blasts second-fastest hundred
Demonstrating her skilful batting performance, Indian star Smriti Mandhana crashed a 77-ball ton during the second ODI against Australia in Chandigarh, registering the second fastest hundred by an Indian woman – only behind her own record of 70 balls (against Ireland earlier this year). With the splendid hundred, Mandhana, who has been in sensational form, has joined Tammy Beaumont for most hundreds in Women’s ODIs with ten ODI hundreds, only behind Meg Lanning (15) and Suzie Bates (13).
Moreover, Mandhana also became the first Asian batter to smash fifteen hundreds in women's international matches. With her 12th ODI hundred, she equalled the world record for the most centuries by an opener in women’s ODIs.
She also now holds the record for most runs in a calendar year by an Indian woman in ODIs. Notably, she recently reclaimed the top spot in the ODI batter rankings. Meanwhile, during her composed knock of 117 off 91, Mandhana blasted 14 boundaries and four sixes.
