India Women and Bangladesh Women will be locking horns in a major Group A clash on Thursday at Old Trafford, looking to consolidate their chances for a semi-final berth. The women in blue have largely performed brilliantly, registering victories in their first two games. However, their defeat to South Africa has created hurdles in their path to the semi-final. With a solid squad, India would eye a turnaround to get back to winning ways because a loss will bring devastating consequences for them and could also threaten to derail their campaign.

Nonetheless, heading into the match against Bangladesh Women, India will be pumped up by a successful record they boast against them. In their 23 meetings against Bangladesh, India have clinched victories in 20 encounters, making them a favourite side. As far as India's batting is concerned, so far, their openers, Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma, have been the cornerstone of the side's batting, performing promisingly at the top of the order.

But the rest of the batters, including Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur, have been unable to make the contributions needed to strengthen the middle order. In their bowling department, spinners have played a key role, repeatedly coming to aid the side. Sree Charani has been the most effective bowler for the team, taking 10 wickets. Shafali Verma has also shouldered the responsibilities smartly in the absence of Shreyanka Patil, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, come into this match on the back of a commanding 23-run win over Pakistan. They also clinched a thumping six-wicket win over Netherlands that actually was their opening match of the tournament. Their only defeat was against Australia; besides that they have controlled the things superbly. For them, players like Nigar Sultana, Dilara Akter and Sobhana Mostary will be crucial as they look to translate their success into even more fruitful results.

India Women possible XI: Shafali Verma, S Mandhana, Yastika Bhatia, JI Rodrigues, H Kaur (C), Richa Ghosh (wk), DB Sharma, Radha Yadav, A Reddy, NR-shree Charani, Nandani Sharma

Bangladesh Women possible XI: Dilara Akter, Juairiya Ferdous, Sobhana Mostary, Nigar Sultana (C), Sharmin Akhter, Shorna Akter, Ritu Moni, Nahida Akter, Rabeya Khan, Marufa Akter, Shanjida Akther Maghla
