Australia will be without key players Adam Zampa and Josh Inglis for the first ODI match against India in Perth, with selectors making late changes to the squad ahead of the high-profile series opener. Adam Zampa is unavailable due to family reasons, as he stays home for the birth of his child. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis has failed to recover in time from a calf strain.

Following their absence, Australia have drafted in left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann and Western Australia’s Josh Philippe to fill the void.

Philippe is set to don the wicketkeeping gloves for the first time in an ODI, with regular wicketkeeper Alex Carey being released to play in a Sheffield Shield fixture for South Australia. Carey’s Shield appearance is part of his preparation for the upcoming Ashes series. According to Cricket Australia, Zampa is expected to join the Australian squad in Adelaide ahead of the second ODI on October 23.
