"He's a serious talent": Australian spinner on big hitter Abhishek Sharma ahead of 4th T20I

In the ongoing T20I series between India and Australia, Indian power-hitter Abhishek Sharma has taken centre-stage with a brutal assault on the Australian bowlers, playing electrifying knocks. Sharma’s form in T20Is this year has been spectacularly impressive. He entered the series after a sparkling run in the Asia Cup 2025, where he scored 314 runs in seven matches at a strike‐rate of 200.00 and an average of 44.85.

Over the past three T20Is against Australia, Abhishek Sharma has been India's mainstay batter, having scored 19, 68 and 25 runs, respectively. The first game ended in no result due to rain, but Sharma got the chance to demonstrate his batting skills. Currently, the series is levelled 1-1, and the fourth T20I will be held on Thursday. However, Australian spinner Matthew Kuhnemann, ahead of the 4th game, has expressed confidence in his team's ability to control Sharma's assault.

"Yeah, it's crucial. It's such a big game now. In T20 cricket, you talk about momentum. We're trying to wrestle that back from India at the moment and hopefully win the next two games. Hopefully, it's Xavier Bartlett or one of the quicks, Benny Dwarshuis, who can take his wicket in the first couple of overs. He's a serious talent, and he just goes so hard from ball one. It's going to be a great spectacle on Thursday, but hopefully those boys can get him cheaply," Kuhnemann said while speaking to reporters on Tuesday.

Going into the fourth match, India will miss the services of spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who has been released from India's squad in order to prepare for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. Yadav has been added to the India A squad for the second four-day game against South Africa A starting on November 6. Australia, on the other hand, will miss the services of Travis Head in the final two games after being released from the squad to turn out for South Australia in the upcoming round of the Sheffield Shield.
