"We are not put in a machine": Haris Rauf slams his critics

Pakistan pace spearhead Haris Rauf has addressed the harsh glare of scrutiny that follows international cricketers, where he thinks players are expected to perform like robots. Rauf's comments come on the back of a difficult phase he has had to endure following his underwhelming performance in the Asia Cup 2025.

He had been severely criticised for his expensive spell in the final of the Asia Cup against India, where he had leaked 50 runs in just 3.4 overs. On Tuesday, Rauf made a staggering comeback in Pakistan's first ODI against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, snaring four crucial wickets and playing a major role in Pakistan's narrow six-run win.

"There is no forgiveness in our field. Because you guys think we are robots and we have to perform in every game. We are not put in a machine as human beings; you guys can also make mistakes and learn from them. People will not remember 10 good matches but one bad game, and they will remember the bad game. As players, we believe in ourselves and don't let doubt overpower our skills," Rauf said during the press conference.

Lately, Pakistan have been under huge pressure following their inconsistent performances in global tournaments. However, they have made a great comeback in the recent assignments, showing relentless firmness. They recently drew the two-match home Test series against South Africa 1-1. And later they secured series victories in the T20I and ODI series. Meanwhile, the second ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be held on Thursday in Rawalpindi.
