Tamim Iqbal withdraws from BPL

Ahead of the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League, former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has opted out of the player auction scheduled for November 23. Tamim officially requested the Bangladesh Cricket Board to remove his name from the list.
"Yes (I am not taking part in BPL) as I have requested Shahriar Nafees (BCB cricket operation manager) to remove my name from players draft," Tamim said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
Since 2012, Tamim has been a consistent presence in the BPL. During his tenure with Fortune Barisal, he led the side to back-to-back titles; however, his absence leaves a noticeable void in the tournament. Notably, Tamim has been out of professional cricket since March 2024 following a heart attack suffered during a domestic match.
