Babar Azam handed penalty by ICC
Pakistan's superstar batter Babar Azam has been slapped with a fine of 10 percent of his match fee following the ICC Code of Conduct breach during the third ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on Sunday in Rawalpindi.
Babar was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”
Additionally, one demerit point has been added to his disciplinary record. There was no need for a formal hearing, as Babar admitted to the offence and accepted the sanctions. The incident took place in the 21st over of Pakistan’s innings when Babar hit the stumps with his bat in frustration after losing his wicket to Jeffrey Vandersay.
