Sri Lanka have included leg-spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth in the squad for the T20I Tri-Series in Pakistan. Viyaskanth has been named in the squad as cover for all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who is currently managing a hamstring injury. Hasaranga, one of Sri Lanka’s premier white-ball players and a key leg-spinner, picked up a hamstring niggle during the second ODI against Pakistan.

Following the injury, Hasaranga missed the third ODI against Pakistan. While he has not yet been officially ruled out of the tri-series, his fitness remains uncertain. Meanwhile, Viyaskanth will join the squad directly from Qatar, where he is currently part of Sri Lanka A competing in the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament.

“Sri Lanka Cricket selectors have included leg-spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth in the National Men's Squad for the T20I Tri-Series in Pakistan. He will travel to Pakistan directly from Qatar, where he was part of the Sri Lanka ‘A' Team competing in the ‘Asia Cup Rising Stars' Tournament. Viyaskanth has been drafted into the squad as Wanindu Hasaranga is yet to fully recover from the hamstring tightness he suffered during the ODI series,” Sri Lanka Cricket said in an official statement.

In the T20I tri-series, Sri Lanka will open their campaign against Zimbabwe on Thursday at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
