Dane van Niekerk makes comeback as South Africa confirm squads for Ireland tour

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed the Proteas women’s T20I and ODI squads for their upcoming white-ball series against Ireland. South Africa will play three T20Is followed by three ODIs in December 2025. The headline from the squad is the return of former captain Dane van Niekerk, who has been selected in both the T20I and ODI squads. This is her first national call-up since September 2021.
She recently reversed her international retirement, and her strong domestic performances since then have now paved the way for a long-anticipated comeback. Meanwhile, several senior players will sit out the ODI series. Marizanne Kapp, Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Chloe Tryon, Nadine de Klerk, and Annerie Dercksen will all miss the ODIs as part of a workload strategy.
Leah Jones has received her maiden ODI call-up.
