"Healthy and fit": Suryakumar Yadav provides update on Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya

India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has provided an update on Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya's return to the side ahead of the upcoming T20I series against South Africa, starting on Tuesday in Cuttack. Gill, who unfortunately suffered a neck injury during the first innings of the opening Test against South Africa in Kolkata and did not bat in the second innings, has been on the sidelines, missing the second Test and the subsequent ODI series. Notably, since injury, Gill hasn't been in action.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya, who has faced his own injury setbacks, has been out of action since the Asia Cup in September earlier this year after picking up a quadriceps injury. However, he recently, he made his return to competitive cricket, playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Appearing for Baroda, Hardik, displaying his batting skills, slammed 77 not out off 42 against Punjab to help his side seal a commanding win.
"Both are looking healthy and fit. They have travelled with the team," Suryakumar Yadav said during the press conference.
Pandya, following his injury, missed the crucial T20I series against Australia; however, he looked in rich form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
"What you saw in the Asia Cup also, when he [Hardik] was bowling with the new ball, he opened up a lot of options, combinations for us with respect to the playing XI. That's what he brings to the table. His experience, the way he has done well in all big games, all good game, all ICC events, ACC events. I think that experience will count a lot and his presence will definitely give a good balance to the side," Yadav said.
