Kohli makes huge gains in ICC ODI rankings

Indian batting star Virat Kohli has rocketed up to No. 2 among ODI batters in the latest ICC rankings. He is now in a race with teammate Rohit Sharma, who remains at No. 1. Kohli earned the second spot after a phenomenal performance in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against South Africa, where he amassed 302 runs — including back-to-back centuries in the first two games and an unbeaten 65 in the decider.
With his splendid performance across three games, Kohli was adjudged the Player of the Series award. Kohli displaced New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell from the second slot, pushing him to No. 3. Meanwhile, he is now behind Rohit Sharma by a margin of just 8 rating points.
Two other Indian players, KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav, also made significant gains. Rahul jumped two places to No. 12 among batters after his handy contributions in the series. Kuldeep, meanwhile, surged three places to reach No. 3 among ODI bowlers. He took nine wickets during the South Africa series. Quinton de Kock also jumped three spots to reach No. 13.
