Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has set his sights on delivering a strong performance for his team at the T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to begin on February 7 across India and Sri Lanka. Currently, Shaheen Afridi is recovering from a knee injury; however, he remains confident of returning to full fitness in time to spearhead Pakistan’s pace attack at the global showpiece. Speaking to reporters, Shaheen Afridi said that it is a minor injury and PCB is monitoring his progress.

"Yes, my rehabilitation is ongoing. The PCB team is monitoring everything. I'm doing gym work and working on my batting as well. I'll begin bowling from next week," Afridi said while speaking to reporters.

"The injury is not as serious as it was last time. There's a bit of swelling on the bone. Hopefully, in a week I will make a comeback," he said.

Shaheen Afridi was recently involved in the Big Bash League, playing for the Brisbane Heat. But, following the injury, he was withdrawn from the tournament, with PCB prioritizing long-term fitness over short-term gains. In the BBL, he played four matches, taking just two wickets.
