Ben Sears named traveling reserve for New Zealand’s T20 World Cup Squad

New Zealand have added pace bowler Ben Sears to their T20 World Cup setup, naming him as a travelling reserve as the Black Caps fine-tune their fast-bowling arsenal ahead of the tournament. The move strengthens the Black Caps’ depth after a reshuffle caused by injury in their pace department.
Sears’ inclusion comes on the back of an impressive return to competitive cricket following a hamstring setback. The right-arm quick made a strong statement during the Super Smash, where he claimed 15 wickets at an average of 17.93. The reserve role opened up after Kyle Jamieson was promoted to the main squad. Jamieson’s elevation came after the unfortunate withdrawal of Adam Milne, who was ruled out of the World Cup due to injury.
"Ben's worked hard to get himself back on the park and it's been great to see him back playing and performing well. He's had a full Super Smash campaign with the Firebirds where he was the competition's joint second-top wicket-taker from the round-robin stage with 15 wickets from his nine games," New Zealand coach Rob Walter said.
"It will be great to have Ben with us here in India and ready to make an impact at the World Cup should someone get injured."
