WPL 2026, Eliminator: Giants chase maiden final as Capitals target fourth successive WPL final

The fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League has reached its business end, with Gujarat Giants Women and Delhi Capitals Women set to collide in the Eliminator on Tuesday in Vadodara. With a place in the final on the line, both teams have everything to play for to secure a berth in the final. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have already booked their ticket to the summit clash, but their opponent will emerge only after this high-stakes showdown.
Delhi Capitals are familiar with such moments. Since the league’s inception, they have been one of the most reliable performers, having made it to the final three times in a row; however, three times they have also walked away without lifting the trophy. That record has cemented their reputation as a side that is always present at the business end, yet searching for the title.
Talking about their 2026 campaign, the Capitals have endured a mixed bag of results, losing three of their first four matches and leaving their playoff hopes hanging by a thread. But Delhi found rhythm in the latter stages of the tournament with three victories in their last four games, reigniting their campaign and hauling them back into contention. Overall they finished the league phase with four wins and four losses.
Gujarat Giants, on the other side, has quietly scripted one of the most impressive turnarounds. Under Ashleigh Gardner’s leadership, the Giants have performed nicely to rise from the depths. They suffered bottom-of-the-table finishes in the first two seasons, which were followed by an Eliminator exit in 2025. This year, however, they have shifted the momentum decisively, finishing second in the league stage for the first time. This is a chance for them to reach their maiden WPL final.
