Zimbabwe veteran Brendan Taylor ruled out of T20I World Cup

Zimbabwe's veteran wicketkeeper-batter Brendan Taylor has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing T20 World Cup after suffering a hamstring injury. Taylor sustained the injury during Zimbabwe’s opening match of the tournament against Oman. The experienced campaigner was batting fluently on 31 off 30 deliveries before pulling up and being forced to retire hurt. Zimbabwe have drafted in top-order batter Ben Curran as Taylor’s replacement, with the ICC's Event Technical Committee approving Curran as replacement for Taylor.
"Taylor has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament after sustaining a right hamstring injury during Zimbabwe’s opening match against Oman in Colombo on 9 February," Zimbabwe Cricket said in a release.
"Following a medical assessment, it was determined that he will not recover in time to take any further part in the competition."
Curran has previously registered centuries in both Tests and ODIs. However, he has not been a regular figure in Zimbabwe’s T20I plans. Moreover, in T20 cricket, Curran has accumulated 872 runs at a strike rate of 126.01, with a highest score of 71. Meanwhile, in Taylor's absence, all-rounder Tony Munyonga was included in the Zimbabwe XI for their match against Australia.
