"Get your mind into a good space": Nasser Hussain on Abhishek's three successive ducks

India’s campaign at the T20 World Cup 2026 has been largely successful, but Abhishek Sharma's poor form continues to draw attention. The fearless batter is enduring a rare and devastating lean patch in the tournament.

Abhishek’s struggles began in India’s opening fixture against the United States, where he perished for a first-ball duck. He was unavailable for the clash against Namibia due to a stomach infection, temporarily halting his opportunity to bounce back. Upon his return, Abhishek once again endured another setback, falling for ducks in the following games against Pakistan and Netherlands, marking his third consecutive duck in the tournament. Commenting on Abhishek's surprising slump, former England captain Nasser Hussain shared his thoughts.

"I think three ducks must make it mental. It is not like you are getting 10, 15, 20, and then you are like, 'I am okay'. Three ducks is suddenly, I mean, it is such a drop-off from where he has been. He is such a consistent hitter of a ball," Hussain told the ICC.

"You just need someone to have a little nudge on him, or even go to his room in the next couple of days, and put in the videos. I don't know if they have videos, I am talking like an old man now. Get your analyst to send you all your great knocks, which there are plenty, and just sit there for two days and remind yourself what a great batter you are, and what a great striker of the ball you are, just to get your mind into a good space," he added.

Abhishek, who has built his reputation on audacity and a fearless approach, will once again get an opportunity to show his dominance when India face South Africa in the Super 8 clash on Sunday in Ahmedabad.
