Beth Mooney wins big at women’s hundred auction, secures record deal

The first-ever auction for the women’s edition of The Hundred saw Australian star Beth Mooney emerge as one of the biggest winners of the event. The veteran wicketkeeper-batter attracted intense interest from multiple franchises before landing a lucrative contract with the Trent Rockets. Mooney secured a top-tier deal worth £210,000 for the four-week tournament, making her one of the most valuable signings in the competition’s inaugural women’s auction.
Her signing followed a fierce bidding war between Trent Rockets and Manchester Super Giants, with Rockets finally winning the battle for her services. Mooney was not the only player to win big at the auction. New Zealand’s dynamic all-rounder Sophie Devine was also picked up for £210,000 by Welsh Fire. Australia’s presence was strongly felt throughout the auction, with spinner Jess Jonassen earning a deal valued at £110,000, while all-rounder Nicola Carey also crossed the six-figure mark with a contract worth £95,000.
South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk was another standout purchase, becoming the fourth-highest-priced player at the auction. She was signed by the London Spirit for £170,000. Her move will see her reunite with Australian all-rounder Grace Harris, a teammate from the Women's Premier League (WPL).
