Hyderabad Kingsmen have appointed Marnus Labuschagne as their captain ahead of the upcoming season of Pakistan Super League. The decision to hand the reins to a player with limited T20 captaincy exposure has come as a surprise. Labuschagne, who was secured as a direct signing, holds a unique place in the Kingsmen setup. Not only was he the franchise’s first confirmed player, but he has now also been named captain of the side.

His appointment also places him among a trio of Australians leading PSL sides this season, alongside David Warner, who will captain Karachi Kings, and Ashton Turner, who takes charge of Multan Sultans. In his T20 career, Labuschagne has scored 1,381 runs from 59 games at a strike rate of 126.81. He also offers part-time bowling options, having taken 40 wickets.

Moreover, Hyderabad have also signed Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and Pakistan all-rounder Saim Ayub to their team. Notably, the Hyderabad Kingsmen are one of the two new franchises introduced this season. Meanwhile, Hyderabad Kingsmen will begin their campaign by facing Lahore Qalandars in the first match of PSL 2026 on March 26 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
