Anushka Sharma receives maiden T20I call-up as India reveal squad for South Africa series

India have unveiled a 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa, with uncapped batter Anushka Sharma earning a maiden India call-up. Anushka enjoyed an outstanding Women’s Premier League (WPL) earlier this year, amassing 177 runs from seven games at an average of 25.28 and a strike rate of 129.19.
Fast bowler Kashvee Gautam, who has featured in ODIs and Tests, has also been included in the squad. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the squad that boasts the likes of experienced performers Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh. Meanwhile, Uma Chetry, who missed the T20I assignment against Australia, makes her return to the side. The series will begin on April 17 in Durban.
