CSK head coach Stephen Fleming provides update on Dewald Brevis

Chennai Super Kings have adopted a cautious approach, building around the potential return of explosive batter Dewald Brevis. The men in yellow are still searching for stability, having lost three games in a row. Their latest defeat was against RCB on Sunday, going down by 43 runs. Head coach Stephen Fleming indicated that the young batter is close to regaining full fitness and could be in contention for CSK’s upcoming home clash against Delhi Capitals on April 11.

Brevis has yet to feature this season after sustaining a side strain that ruled him out of the opening three matches. However, a five-day break between their fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the next game has provided the batter valuable recovery time.

"We hope he is going to be right for the next game. We have five days between the next game. We have been conservative, and hopefully, these next five days go as well as we have planned, and he is ready to go. It's a big loss, but we are looking forward to getting him back," Fleming said during the CSK vs RCB match.

Brevis' absence has been felt pretty badly at CSK as they have struggled to find the right combination, fielding only two overseas players in one match and three in another. However, the return of Dewald Brevis will be a big boost for the side considering the batting skills of young talent. He already showed glimpses of his explosive ability in IPL 2025 after joining the franchise as a replacement player. In just six innings, he scored 225 runs.
