South Africa slip to third in WTC 2025-27 standings, Australia bolster top position

South Africa have crashed to third place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings after suffering a massive 214-run defeat against Australia in the opening Test at Durban. The latest development has completely changed the top half of the points table, with Australia bolstering their position in first place and New Zealand advancing to second.
South Africa headed into the second Test in second position, but after the defeat, they have now dropped two places. Besides, this was the Proteas’ second defeat in the last five matches in the ongoing championship cycle. Their points percentage (PCT) has fallen to 60.00, making it rather difficult for them in the race for a place in the WTC final.
Australia, on the other hand, continue to lead the standings with nine victories in eleven matches, having a points percentage of 81.82. New Zealand, on the other hand, have a points percentage of 72.22. Meanwhile, Bangladesh occupy fourth place with a PCT of 55.56, while India are fifth at 51.52.
