"I am not a machine": Mohammed Shami after delivering blazing performance against SRH

Veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami shared his thoughts on his game after delivering a match-winning spell that powered Lucknow Super Giants to a crucial victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL on Sunday in Hyderabad. Shami, reflecting on his performance, stated that the wicket was sticky. In the match against Hyderabad, he rose to the occasion with a clinical spell, finishing with remarkable figures of 2 wickets for 9 runs. Even more impressive was his ability to build pressure, bowling 18 dot balls.
"The pitch was the same as it has always been here. Slow type, a little bit sticky. But with the new ball, your line length is very important. Because we clearly knew that if we give them width or if we give them in the zone, then they will hit both the batsmen hard," Shami said at the press conference.
"So it was very important to turn off the pace. And it was very important that they get as little elevation as possible," he said.
Shami, who has been involved in domestic cricket extensively, emphasised that ups and downs are part of the game. And that inconsistency is part of the sport. However, Shami expressed confidence in his preparation and resilience. Notably, Shami had a difficult IPL 2025 season. Featuring for Sunrisers Hyderabad, he struggled to find rhythm after returning from injury. In nine matches, he managed only six wickets.
βI am not a machine. My season can go up and down. I have performed well in the last few years. People may not have notnoticed;atβs different. But I always try to do well. And as far as Bharat bhai is concerned, we have worked together in the Indian team for a long time. We have a good bounding. We have a good understanding with each other. So it is very important that the players and staff match well. And as far as Lucknow is concerned, it is my second home. So it doesn't take much time to match up," he said.
