David Warner charged with drink driving

Former Australian cricketer and legend David Warner has been charged with drink driving. According to reports, Warner, who retired from international cricket in 2024, was pulled over by cops on Malabar Road in Maroubra in Sydney. Cops conducted a breath test on him that returned a positive reading for alcohol.
Following the test, Warner was charged with drink-driving and was arrested. He was taken to Maroubra police station, where authorities had him undergo a secondary test. The second Test returned another positive reading of 0.104. Warner is not set to face court next week.
βAbout 5:30pm today (Sunday 5 April 2026), police were conducting stationary random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra,β the police statement read.
βA van was seen to allegedly stop short of the testing site and park. Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and subjected the driver β a 39-year-old man β to roadside testing which returned a positive result.
βHe was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station where a second test allegedly returned a reading of 0.104. The man was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for drive with middle-range PCA to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 7 May 2026.β
He is currently involved in PSL, serving as the captain of Karachi Kings. His team has performed incredibly well, claiming three victories in a row. Karachi's upcoming match is against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday in Karachi.
For Australia, Warner featured in 112 Tests, 161 ODIs, and 120 T20Is. Warner also captains Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League. Notably, he was the second-highest run-scorer in the BBL 2025/26, bringing up 433 runs in eight innings.
