"Honestly, the batting is a concern": Pakistan coach Sarfaraz Ahmed
Pakistan’s struggles with the bat have taken another worrying turn at Lord’s, leaving head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed searching for answers after the disappointing first innings of the second Test against England on Friday. They were bowled out for 110, allowing England to have a huge 180-run advantage in the first innings. The batting concern was not simply the result of one poor session, but it has been a pattern that has become difficult for Pakistan to ignore. Their batting throughout the series has deteriorated, with every successive innings producing a smaller total than the one before it. The decline has also been shown in the amount of time the batters have spent at the crease.
“Honestly, the batting is a concern. In the first test, we did not do well as a batting unit. We try to create such a combination that strengthens the batting. But unfortunately, our batting was not able to do well in this innings. Still, we are hopeful," Sarfaraz said at the press conference.
Sarfaraz stressed the importance of determination, highlighting the batting performance of Azan Awais, who demonstrated incredible patience that Pakistan desperately needed. The young batter occupied the crease for 102 deliveries and produced a team-best 46.
