RCB demolish MI in stunning win

A run-fest unfolded at the Wankhede Stadium as Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured a commanding 18-run victory over Mumbai Indians in a pulsating clash on Sunday. After being sent in to bat, Bengaluru’s top order set the tone early. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt came out firing, putting pressure on Mumbai’s bowling attack from the outset. They forged a 120-run opening partnership that laid a strong platform.
Salt was explosive, striking 78 runs from 36 deliveries, while Kohli played a steady supporting role with a half-century off 38 balls. Rajat Patidar took charge in the middle overs, unleashing a blistering 53 from 20 balls to take RCB to 240/4 in 20 overs. Meanwhile, Mumbai’s chase began on a promising note.
Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton stitched together a brisk opening stand of 57 runs in five overs. However, the chase suffered a setback when Rohit, who had made 19, had to retire hurt due to a hamstring concern. Rickelton continued to push the scoring but was dismissed for 37, and soon after, Tilak Varma also fell in the same over, scoring 1 run. However, Sherfane Rutherford fought hard, crafting an unbeaten 71 to keep Mumbai in the hunt. Still, his innings was not enough as Mumbai finished at 222/5 in 20 overs.
