CSK pacer Khaleel Ahmed ruled out of IPL 2026
Chennai Super Kings have suffered a crushing blow, with their highly skilful pacer Khaleel Ahmed being ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 due to a right quadricep injury. Khaleel sustained the injury during the team's match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday. In a release, the franchise confirmed that it will take more than 12 weeks for Khaleel to recover from the injury.
"The injury sustained will take more than 12 weeks to heal," CSK said in a statement.
Khaleel Ahmed, known for his left-arm pace and ability to swing the ball in powerplay overs, had been an important part of his CSK's bowling attack, featuring in all past games this season. His absence leaves a noticeable gap, especially when the CSK are in desperate need of victories to get their campaign back on track. In the past games, he was instrumental in providing breakthroughs and maintaining pressure in the middle overs. However, his absence will undoubtedly weaken the team's pace attack.
Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, are beginning to revive their campaign following back-to-back victories in their last two games against KKR and DC. Notably, CSK had endured a torrid start to their IPL 2026 campaign, suffering three defeats in a row.
