Shreyas Iyer, Prabhsimran Singh wreak havoc as Punjab down MI

Punjab Kings pulled off an astounding run chase, overcoming a challenging target to register a convincing seven-wicket win over Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. Captain Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh stole the show with their assertive batting turning the match decisively in Punjab’s favour. Chasing 196, Punjab Kings stumbled early as Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly lost their wickets early. However, Iyer and Prabhsimran stabilised the innings, showing excellent awareness.
Prabhsimran played the more aggressive role, blazing a superb 80, while Iyer anchored the innings with a well-judged 66-run knock. Iyer, meanwhile, lost his wicket, but Prabhsimran remained unbeaten to guide the side to victory in 16.3 overs. Earlier, Mumbai Indians had posted a formidable 19/6 in 20 overs following a breathtaking innings from Quinton de Kock.
The wicketkeeper-batter remained unbeaten on 112 off 60 deliveries, smashing 8 fours and 7 sixes throughout his knock. He was aided by Naman Dhir, who contributed a valuable 50, as the pair stitched together a 122-run partnership. Hardik Pandya also scored 14 off 12 balls. For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh stood out with an impressive spell, picking up three wickets for 22 runs in his four overs.
