Australia to tour Bangladesh for white-ball assignment
Australia are set to return to Bangladesh for a bilateral ODI series for the first time in 15 years. The upcoming tour, scheduled for June, will feature six white-ball matches – three ODIs and as many T20Is. The ODI leg of the series will take place in Dhaka, beginning on June 9. The second and third ODIs will be held on 11 and 14 June. These matches will bring an end to a long absence of ODI series between both teams. Following the ODIs, the action will shift to Chattogram, where both teams will play three T20Is starting on June 17. The second and third T20Is will be played on June 19 and 21, respectively.
Australia's most recent visit to Bangladesh came in 2021, when they played a five-match T20I series. At that time, Bangladesh outplayed Australia, delivering an excellent performance to clinch the series 4-1. Notably, ahead of the Bangladesh tour, Australia are scheduled to travel to Pakistan to play three ODIs starting on May 30. However, the fixtures for the series have not been announced yet.
"We've got a batch of camps in May, before the Pakistan and Bangladesh white-ball series (and we're) focused pretty intently on which players we're going to get there at the moment," National Selector George Bailey said as quoted by Cricket.com.au.
