IPL 2026: Desperate MI hunt comeback against rampaging SRH

Mumbai Indians are gearing up to face off against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a high-octane clash on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium. Talking about MI, their campaign has been far from their usual script. Traditionally, they are known for building into the tournament slowly before peaking; however, this season hasn’t followed that pattern. They opened the campaign with a victory but then suffered a four-game losing streak.

A convincing win over the Gujarat Titans gave them some hope, but that optimism was dampened when they suffered a heavy defeat against the Chennai Super Kings. Now, it is a do-or-die contest for them, and they will be hoping to make their comeback. In a big setback for MI, Mitchell Santner has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury, forcing MI to bring in South African spinner Keshav Maharaj as a replacement.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad are brimming with confidence. Riding a four-match winning streak, they are brilliantly settled. However, their record at Wankhede is not in their favour. Out of 14 matches at this venue, they have managed only two wins and are currently on a four-game losing streak here.

One of the biggest positives for Hyderabad has been the form of Abhishek Sharma. After an unusual start, he has found his form with a series of impactful innings, including a century and two strong fifties. But Travis Head is yet to churn out a standout knock. The middle order has stepped up nicely, with contributions from Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen making a big difference. With all this, Hyderabad will look to maintain their winning momentum.
