GT fire in tandem to topple RCB

Gujarat Titans, coming out with a disciplined performance on Thursday in Ahmedabad, cruised to an emphatic four-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Chasing a modest target of 156, GT got off to a flying start after the dynamic opening pair of Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler set the tone early, taking on the RCB bowlers and slamming 43 and 39, respectively, to ensure that the chase never veered off track.
As the innings progressed, Gujarat maintained their pressure. Down the order, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan guided the team home, remaining unbeaten on 27 and 7, respectively, as GT reached the target in 15.5 overs.
Earlier, RCB, who were asked to bat, did not find stability despite a promising start. Virat Kohli looked in sublime touch, smashing Kagiso Rabada for five consecutive boundaries. However, the South African pacer had the last laugh, striking back to dismiss Kohli shortly after.
From there, RCB’s batting faltered. The middle order, featuring captain Rajat Patidar along with Tim David, Jitesh Sharma, and Krunal Pandya, failed to build partnerships as their wickets fell at regular intervals, and RCB were bowled out for 155 in 19.2 overs. Notably, Devdutt Padikkal made a big impact for RCB, blazing a much-needed knock of 40 off 24.
