Mumbai Indians have provided a crucial update on captain Hardik Pandya, who missed MI's match against LSG on Monday at Wankhede Stadium. In his absence, the side was led by Suryakumar Yadav, giving a massive surprise at the toss. Sharing the update, MI batter Ryan Rickelton revealed that Pandya missed the game due to back spasm. More surprisingly, Rickelton said that he did not know about Pandya's injury until Monday afternoon.

Notably, Hardik Pandya has been under immense pressure and has faced significant criticism following the side's alarming run of poor outings. Nonetheless, MI's latest win against LSG has brought them back to life in the ongoing IPL. Against LSG, Mumbai Indians raced to a sensational six-wicket win, completing their highest successful chase in IPL history.

"I don't know when he is expected to be back. I found out myself this afternoon that he had back spasms. I don't know the extent of the injury or how bad it is. I am not sure how he is feeling, but I am sure that he will be with us again as we head to Raipur this week," Rickelton said during the press conference.

Talking about the match, MI, chasing a target of 229, saw openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton play crucial innings at the top. Both players stitched an opening stand of 143 off 65 balls to lay a strong foundation in a must-win game. Rohit Sharma blasted 84 off 44 balls while Rickelton contributed 83 off 32 as Mumbai reached 229/4 with eight balls to spare.
