Bangladesh, churning out a memorable performance at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday, defeated Pakistan by 104 runs in the opening Test of the two-match series, clinching their first-ever Test win over Pakistan on home soil. Chasing a target of 268 on the final day (Tuesday), Pakistan’s batting lineup crashed under pressure as Bangladesh’s bowlers dominated the final session. The hosts bowled Pakistan out for 163 in their second innings, with fast bowler Nahid Rana emerging as the star of the day, registering a five-wicket haul.

The match had already landed in Bangladesh's favour after Pakistan posted 386 in reply to Bangladesh’s first-innings total of 413. Pakistan debutant Azan Awais impressed with a superb century, scoring 103 runs under pressure, while Abdullah Fazal scored 60.

However, Bangladesh regained momentum in the second innings on the back of disciplined batting led by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. His valuable knock of 87 helped the side reach 240/9, declared. Mominul Haque had also scored 56. Pakistan’s collapse on the final day came as a shock after experienced players Imam-ul-Haq, Shan Masood, Salman Ali Agha and Saud Shakeel made no noteworthy contributions. The win comes nearly two years after their sensational 2-0 Test series sweep against Pakistan in 2024. Now by clinching this win, Bangladesh have extended their dominance with a third successive Test victory over Pakistan.
