"I was putting far too much pressure...": KKR's Finn Allen on finding form

Finn Allen’s IPL 2026 campaign is beginning to show the immense talent and fearless approach that he is known for. After a difficult start to the season, the explosive Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener has turned things around incredibly, playing knocks that have not only revived his own tournament but also strengthened KKR’s playoff chances.
Allen made his return to form with a breathtaking unbeaten century against Delhi Capitals (DC), smashing 100 not out from 47 balls in a modest chase of 143. His latest assault against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Saturday was more amazing. Tearing into GT's bowling attack, Allen smashed a sensational 93 off 35 balls as his big contribution helped KKR secure a 29-run win over GT to keep their playoff hopes alive.
At the start of the tournament, Allen struggled badly for consistency, managing 81 runs across five innings. The alarming run of low scores cost him his place in the playing XI. However, since his return, his scores of 29, 100*, 18, and 93 have helped him a lot. Speaking on his form, Allen said that getting dropped helped him find his form.
"To be honest, at the start of the tournament, I was putting far too much pressure on myself to perform. I was probably a shallow of a human for a bit there, and it was all self-inflicted," Allen said at the press conference.
"So I think, when you go out of the side, you have time to relax and take a breath and I guess look at things from a different perspective," he said.
"I love playing cricket; I love batting, and I probably wasn't enjoying it as much as I should have at the time because I was putting so much pressure on myself. So yeah, look, having those few games off really did me a good thing. And yeah, it's a great learning for sure," Allen added.
Finn also lauded young talent Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who smashed a brilliant 82-run knock unbeaten to help KKR post a massive total.
"Starboy. Yeah, he's an incredible player. I think he's just expanding his game. The more we see him bat, he's got a great base. He can play some incredible shots. He's just showing what he's capable of. For such a young fellow to be heavily relied on by the team, I think, just shows how good he is."
"It's really exciting for the franchise to have someone so young performing so consistently and great for Indian cricket probably. So, yeah, I couldn't speak higher of him. He's a really good kid."
