Ishan Kishan stars as SRH seal playoff spot
Ishan Kishan played a key role as Sunrisers Hyderabad fired a commanding performance to storm into the IPL 2026 playoffs after defeating Chennai Super Kings by five wickets on Monday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Chasing a target of 181, Hyderabad's power-hitters Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen guided the team to a memorable victory. Kishan bludgeoned a brilliant 70, while Klaasen played a crucial role with a much-needed knock of 47, helping SRH comfortably cross the finish line and secure a crucial playoff berth.
SRH's chase began steadily, with opener Abhishek Sharma scoring 26. However, Travis Head failed to impress, losing his wicket for 6 off 6. As the innings progressed, Kishan took charge with an aggressive display of power-hitting, blazing seven boundaries and three sixes during his knock. Klaasen helped him nicely to keep SRH on top.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings posted a fighting total of 180/7 in 20 overs after deciding to bat. Youngster Dewald Brevis top-scored with an important 44-run knock. Kartik Sharma added valuable momentum with a fiery 32, while Sanju Samson chipped in with a quick 27 to strengthen the total.
