Sri Lanka reveal strong squads for WI tour

Sri Lanka have announced their squads for the upcoming multi-format tour of the West Indies, with a whole host of experienced names returning to the side. The tour will include two Test matches, three ODIs and three T20Is. Wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis has been given the responsibility of leading Sri Lanka in the ODIs and T20Is.
All-rounder Kamindu Mendis has been named his deputy in the white-ball formats.
For the Test series, Sri Lanka have retained faith in Dhananjaya de Silva, who will continue to lead the red-ball setup. Kamindu Mendis will also serve as vice-captain in the longest format. Sri Lanka’s ODI squad boasts a strong bowling attack featuring star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana and fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera. The selectors have also handed opportunities to emerging batters Kamil Mishara and Pavan Rathnayake. Both players have impressed in domestic cricket.
Meanwhile, the Test squad includes senior campaigners such as Dinesh Chandimal, left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya and pace spearhead Lahiru Kumara. The tour will begin in June, with the three ODIs on 3, 6 and 8 June, respectively. Then, both sides will lock horns in a three-match T20I series to be played on June 12, 14 and 15, respectively. And the tour will conclude with two Test matches. The first Test will be held from June 25 to 29 and the second from July 3 to 7.
