Rajasthan Royals batter and teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stole the show with an amazingly outstanding performance during the IPL 2026 Eliminator clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday at PCA New Cricket Stadium. In a truly historic innings, Sooryavanshi shattered one of the most iconic IPL records held by the legendary Chris Gayle. In his innings against SRH, he struck 12 sixes, taking his tally of sixes to 65 in IPL 2026, which helped him overtake Gayle’s long-standing record of 59 sixes in a single IPL season, set back in 2012. The teenager now sits atop the all-time list. Sooryavanshi unleashed absolute mayhem against Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling attack, racing to a stunning half-century in 16 balls. The blistering knock equalled the record for the fastest fifty ever scored in IPL knockout history. By blasting 12 sixes, Sooryavanshi also broke Shubman Gill's record for most sixes in an innings of an IPL playoff match. Gill had fired 10 sixes during his 129-run innings against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of the 2023 playoffs.
