Sairaj Bahutule appointed India’s new spin bowling coach

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed former all-rounder Sairaj Bahutule as the new spin bowling coach. The development comes a few days ahead of India’s upcoming home series against Afghanistan, scheduled to begin on June 6.
"A former India international and a domestic stalwart, Mr Bahutule brings with him a wealth of experience as both a player and a coach. Over the years, he has built a strong reputation for nurturing and developing spin-bowling talent across domestic and franchise cricket," the BCCI said in a media release.
Bahutule represented India in two Tests and eight ODIs between 1997 and 2003. Although his international appearances were limited, he was one of India's most accomplished first-class cricketers. In 188 first-class matches, he amassed more than 6176 runs and claimed 630 wickets.
Over the years, Bahutule has acquired extensive coaching experience at different levels of the game. He has worked with domestic teams and IPL franchises. His recent stint with Punjab Kings was quite successful and further enhanced his credentials as he gets ready to take up the national assignment.
