Australia's promising young batter Ollie Peake is set to receive another valuable opportunity after being retained for the upcoming ODI series in Bangladesh. Peake, who was initially picked for Australia's recent ODI campaign in Pakistan, will remain with the team for the three-match series in Dhaka following the continued absence of senior stars Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh. Head has been granted personal leave, while Marsh is still recovering from an ankle issue. The Bangladesh tour also gives a fresh opportunity for off-spinner Todd Murphy, who is yet to make his debut in limited-overs cricket. Murphy has been included in the ODI squad and could finally get the chance to showcase his skills in the white-ball format. He replaces leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha, who suffered a hamstring injury during Australia's recent campaign in Lahore. The injury has ruled Sangha out of the Bangladesh ODIs.

Matt Short, who was originally included for the Pakistan ODIs, has also earned an extended stay with the squad. Meanwhile, Australia will continue under the leadership of Josh Inglis for the ODI series. He captained the side during the Pakistan tour.

“Unfortunately, Tanveer Sangha sustained a hamstring injury during the second ODI against Pakistan and will take no further part in the tour,” national selector Tony Dodemaide said.

“We were hopeful Mitch Marsh would be available for the Bangladesh ODI series; however, he is still returning to full fitness from an ankle injury.

“Travis was initially selected in the ODI and T20I legs of this Bangladesh tour but has subsequently been granted personal leave for both.”

Australia squad for Bangladesh ODIs: Josh Inglis (c), Xavier Bartlett, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Matthew Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Todd Murphy, Oliver Peake, Matthew Renshaw, Liam Scott, Matt Short, Adam Zampa
