Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has shared his views on one of the most common misconceptions surrounding batting superstar Virat Kohli. Having shared a highly successful partnership with Kohli during their time leading the Indian cricket team, Shastri witnessed firsthand the intensity, passion, and determination that outlined Kohli's approach to the game. Together, they guided India through a memorable era, registering impressive achievements across formats.

Recently speaking, Shastri talked about the long-standing perception that Kohli is arrogant and overly aggressive. According to the veteran coach, there is some truth to that is only limited to the cricket field. Shastri emphasised that off the field, Kohli is warm and grounded. He described the star batter as someone who can switch into competitive mode only when the situation demands it.

"Arrogant. Spoiled brat. Over the top. On edge. Everything true, but on the field. Totally the opposite off it. I love people who have the ability to switch on like that and then switch off," he said in a video posted on YouTube by the One8 channel.

Notably, Kohli's ability to channel aggression brilliantly has been one of his greatest strengths, making him a star. Meanwhile, after announcing his retirement from T20Is and subsequently stepping away from Tests, the batting icon now remains available and active in ODIs only. However, he is missing India's ongoing ODI series against Afghanistan due to injury. Kohli was recently involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he slammed 675 runs in 16 innings, playing a big role in his team's title win.
