Gill, Kishan blast tons to steer India to victory over Afghanistan

India cruised to a commanding 170-run win in the second ODI over Afghanistan at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, securing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. India, after being asked to bat, overcame an early setback to pile up a massive total of 402 runs before being bundled out in 49.5 overs. They got off to a shaky start when Yashasvi Jaiswal departed cheaply, scoring four runs.
However, Rohit Sharma steadied the innings with a vital knock of 48. After Rohit's dismissal, India's innings was led by a spectacular partnership between Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan. Gill smacked a magnificent knock of 154 off 110, while Kishan shone with a brilliant 125 off 79. The duo dominated the Afghan bowling attack, pounding them mercilessly. Chasing a target of 403, Afghanistan began nicely, with openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sediqullah Atal providing a solid start, scoring 41 and 42 runs respectively.
But Indian bowlers made things difficult for Afghanistan, who struggled to maintain momentum after the wickets of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sediqullah Atal. Rahmat Shah was the lone warrior, displaying determination with a fighting knock of 79. However, Afghanistan failed to revive their chase, being bowled out for 232 in 44.3 overs. For India, Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar took three wickets each to play their major roles.
