Virat Kohli quashes rumours of Test comeback
Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli has put an end to speculation surrounding a possible return to Test cricket, saying that his time in the longest format has ended. The ever-ready batter, who announced his retirement from Test cricket ahead of India's tour of England in 2025, spoke about the topic during an event in New Delhi on Sunday.
When he was asked if there was any chance of reversing his retirement and returning to red-ball cricket, Kohli gave a straightforward response, emphasising that his decision remains unchanged and that he has no plans to make a comeback to red-ball cricket.
"Na na, I would rather undersell... I'm done with it (Test cricket)," Kohli said.
During his illustrious Test career, Kohli scored 9,230 runs in 123 games, including 30 centuries and 31 half-centuries. Apart from his achievements with the bat, Kohli also enjoyed tremendous success as India's Test captain. Under his leadership, the team registered many memorable victories. Notably, the legendary batter has also retired from T20I cricket. As of now, Kohli only remains active in ODIs. He was, on Sunday, named in India's ODI squad for the England tour after missing the home series against Afghanistan, which India swept 3-0.
