England have named a 17-player squad for their upcoming five-match T20I series against India, starting on July 1. The squad largely resembles the group that featured in England’s T20 World Cup campaign earlier this year, with Sussex allrounder James Coles receiving his maiden international call-up. The young allrounder has impressed on the domestic circuit with his incredible consistency. In 71 T20 matches, Coles has hit 1,373 runs at an average of 28.60. He has also nabbed 53 wickets at an economy rate of 8.27.

“James Coles is an exciting addition and has earned his place following his performances with the England Lions and in T20 competitions here and abroad during the past 12 months,” national selector Marcus North said.

Explosive batter Jos Buttler, who endured a relatively quiet T20 World Cup, has retained his place. Veteran spinner Liam Dawson has also been included in the squad. The squad will be led by Harry Brook, who faces a demanding schedule as he balances responsibilities across formats. Currently, Brook is part of England's ongoing Test series against New Zealand and will lead the side in T20Is less than two days after completing the third and final Test match against New Zealand.

England squad for India T20Is: Harry Brook, Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Sonny Baker, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, James Coles, Jordan Cox, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Josh Tongue, Luke Wood
