Shree Charani climbs to the top of T20I bowling rankings

India's rising spin sensation Shree Charani has become the world's No. 1 ranked bowler in Women's T20Is for the first time. She has overtaken England's Linsey Smith to claim the top spot. She slipped to third place after a dull start to the World Cup campaign. Charani's rise has been quite magnificent in the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup.
Having made her international debut only a little over a year ago, the young spinner has become a key figure in India's bowling attack. She is the tournament's leading wicket-taker so far, with 10 wickets from just three matches. She was quite instrumental in India's victories against Pakistan and the Netherlands. Against Pakistan, she took 3 wickets for 21 runs, helping India remain dominant.
She followed that with a more devastating performance against the Netherlands, claiming 4 wickets for 19 runs. She remained in touch during India's defeat to South Africa, taking three wickets for 24 runs. Meanwhile, England's Charlie Dean moved up to second position after a productive tournament. She has taken five wickets in three matches. England spinner Sophie Ecclestone also enjoyed a major rise, moving four places to secure the fourth spot in the rankings.
