Women's T20 World Cup: Semi-final berth on the line as India face Australia

India are gearing up to face Australia in one of the biggest matches of the Women's T20 World Cup, to be played on Sunday at Lord's. Australia have already solidified their position in the group, entering the match on the back of four successive victories. For India, this match will play a crucial role in determining their place in the semi-finals.
Talking about Australia, they have enjoyed a blistering campaign so far, winning every match. Their dominant performances have helped them have a healthy net run rate, putting them comfortably at the top of the standings. As for India, however, the situation is far more intense. A victory over Australia would put them in a commanding position to qualify for the semi-finals, because they have a net run rate advantage over South Africa. A defeat, on the other hand, could end their World Cup journey, with South Africa expected to have the upper hand in their final group-stage fixture against Bangladesh.
India began the tournament strongly, securing convincing victories over Pakistan and the Netherlands. However, a disappointing loss to South Africa complicated their qualification, putting them in a must-win position. Though they responded brilliantly by defeating Bangladesh in Manchester to keep their campaign alive, a win against Australia is crucial. India will rely on openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma to handle the batting at the top of the order. Meanwhile, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur and Richa Ghosh will be expected to step up and play their part in the batting department. Australia, on the other hand, will look to continue maintain the consistency.
