"There's been a lot of digging behind the scenes": Harry Brook on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

There has been huge discussion surrounding the debut of young prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who, having received his maiden India call-up, has not yet made his international debut. Ahead of India's T20I series against Ireland and England, Sooryavanshi was named in both of India's squads following a sensational IPL 2026. However, he missed out on his debut during the Ireland series, with the management sticking with more experienced players in Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma at the top.

Now there are likely chances that Sooryavanshi might get to make his debut during India's T20I series against England, especially because India are coming off a horrible 2-0 series defeat against Ireland in the preceding two-match series. Meanwhile, ahead of the series, England captain Harry Brook said that his side is well prepared to deal with talented Sooryavanshi.

β€œHe looks like a very, very talented player, obviously done extremely well in the last year, year and a half, and we've got our tactics, and hopefully they work, and there's been a lot of digging behind the scenes to see what we can do to try and stop them from playing their best cricket,” Brook said at the pre-match press conference ahead of the first T20I.

The series against England is an opportunity for India to bounce back and leave behind the historic setback. Against Ireland, their batting unit struggled to churn out consistent performances throughout the two-match series. After suffering a 34-run defeat in the opening T20I, India were very close to levelling the series; however, they lost the second match by one run to sink to back-to-back defeats. Both England and India will lock horns in the first T20I on Wednesday at Riverside Ground.
