India have suffered a massive setback in the ongoing T20I series against England, with spinner Varun Chakravarthy and fast bowler Harshit Rana ruled out of the remaining two matches due to injuries.

"Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy sustained hamstring injuries in the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge. The BCCI Medical Team has assessed them and ruled them out of the 4th and 5th T20Is," BCCI stated on X.

Both Varun and Rana have struggled with fitness over the past year. Harshit Rana had previously been sidelined after undergoing knee surgery, missing the T20 World Cup and the Indian Premier League. Varun Chakravarthy has also endured a difficult run with injuries.

During the 2026 IPL season, he suffered a foot injury while representing the Kolkata Knight Riders. Following the tournament, he underwent rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to regain full fitness.
