As India prepare for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe, skipper Shreyas Iyer has underlined adaptability as a key weapon to overcome changing conditions. Following recent setbacks against Ireland and England, Iyer is of the opinion that the team's ability to adjust quickly will be the most important thing. 

"We had a rough patch in England, but a lot of positives (came) out of that. We got to know what we have to build as a team going forward (and) what kind of presence of mind, awareness, and adaptability we need once we step onto the field. Again, this is going to be a great challenge for us. Some of us are playing here for the first time. So the quicker we adapt, the better result we would be getting," Iyer said at the press conference.

Having returned from England on Tuesday only, captain Shreyas Iyer's schedule is also quite challenging, as he has had only two days to recover.

"I'm not going to lie, it is definitely very challenging. Like, we came yesterday, and today is practice, and tomorrow is match again. So it is challenging, but it is fun. If you give a good performance, then definitely you will be happy with yourself, and you will definitely get praises."

India come into the series against Zimbabwe after disappointing series losses in both Ireland and England, with Iyer urging the side to channel those experiences into improved performances. The big challenge for India against Ireland and England was their struggle to adapt to demanding conditions, and Iyer admitted that it will be crucial for India to immediately adjust to conditions in Zimbabwe.

"Definitely, as you know, the results didn't go our way. That has brought the team closer to each other. We have been having a lot of discussions about how we are going to play as a unit going forward, especially against Zimbabwe right now," Iyer said.

"Yes, we have had three series outside of India. And it is great exposure for us as well, as a team, because you don't get this often. And this is a challenging phase. And the quicker you overcome this phase, the better you get as a team. And you get the results as well eventually," Iyer added.
