Litton Das named Bangladesh’s new ODI captain
Bangladesh have taken a major decision, handing experienced wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das the responsibility of leading ODI side. The talented star has been entrusted with the captaincy following Bangladesh Cricket Board’s decision to make a leadership change in the wake team's recent ODI series loss to Zimbabwe.
Das replaces Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who had been serving as the ODI captain since June 2025. Despite Bangladesh’s recent setback against Zimbabwe, Miraz's tenure was incredibly successful. Under his leadership, Bangladesh played 20 ODI matches, winning 10 and losing nine.
Das has great experience in ODI, having represented Bangladesh in 104 ODIs, accumulating 2869 runs. Notably, he is already serving as Bangladesh's T20I captain. It is quite interesting as the coming months will be crucial for Bangladesh as they fine-tune performance ahead of the World Cup.
