Auqib Nabi earns maiden India call-up, replaces Bumrah in India’s squad for Sri Lanka Tests
Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to an incomplete recovery from a left knee injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Monday that the experienced fast bowler has not received the fitness clearance to return to competitive cricket.
Bumrah sustained the injury during India's ODI series against England. In Bumrah’s absence, Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi has received his maiden senior India call-up. Nabi’s promising performance on the domestic circuit over the past two seasons has been rewarded. In the last two Ranji Trophy campaigns, he claimed an impressive 104 wickets, including a remarkable haul of 60 wickets during the 2025-26 season.
His outstanding performances were instrumental in Jammu and Kashmir scripting history by clinching their first-ever Ranji Trophy title. Meawnhile, the two-match series between India and Sri Lanka, which is a part of the World Test Championship, will commence on August 15 in Galle.
